Bad Day At The Office

Below is the inside of the Google head office, wonderful isn't it.
They get to go to work in the most relaxed place on the planet, which is one of the reasons Google has been the amazing success it is today.

Relaxed work space=happy relaxed productive workers

I have loved and supported Google from the off and I will continue to do so, however, my love from them is now tainted.

Today, is in my opinion an almost sacred day JUNE 6th

In case it means nothing to you, today is the day of The D-Day Landings, the greatest invasion ever to be attempted, over 5 thousand ships loaded with men, machine and weapons crossed the English Chanel for the Liberation of Europe.

This is an important day in the life of my family, it meant freedom for us, but at the price of sacrifice for other families.

My family came from Poland and Checzsolvakia and walked out of their countries to make it here to the UK, where they were treated warmly, welcomed, given sanctuary, hope and a future.

There have been a fair few members of this family who have served in the Armed Forces.
We do collectively feel a debt of gratitude for a country that took us in and protected us.

For this reason and this reason alone we have always supported our troops past and present.

Today, I got up and after a few jobs about the home, logged on to my computer, as I knew what today was, I expected to see a google banner that commemorated this momentous day in history.

What I found was a banner celebrating 25yrs of "Tetris", yep, like that's done so much for the free world, a stupid computer game, I'd swear but, I just remembered that I am a lady.

Thousands and thousands of men went running up those beaches, into what must have looked like the gates of hell and the best google can do is celebrate a pathetic computer game.

Least google forget:-

Total allied casualties (killed, wounded, missing, or captured) are estimated at approximately 10,000.
These comprised:
United States–6,603, of which 1,465 fatal.
United Kingdom–2,700.
Canada–1,074, of which 359 fatal.

That was just in one day, JUNE 6TH 1944......not such a great day at the office.

To all the WWII veterans:-

Thank you, for giving me my life, my country, my home, my children, my freedom.

I and my family can never thank you or begin to repay you.

AND

We will never forget you.

To google....shame on you, that you forgot, overlooked or plain didn't care, that the reason you have the relaxed and comfy office is because thousands of men had a bad day at their office.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

John McCrae
